The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is a collection of regulations granting the FDA expanded authority to oversee how food is grown, harvested, and processed. It requires that imported foods meet strict standards equivalent to those for domestically produced food. The FSMA includes seven key Preventive Control Rules, such as the Produce Safety Rule, Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) Rule, Accredited Third-Party Certification, Sanitary Transportation Rule, Intentional Adulteration Rule, and guidelines for ensuring compliance with FSMA regulations.
